Swedish Fid for Rope Splicing Stainless Steel (170mm or 280mm)
These are stainless steel Swedish fids. They are used primarily for separating the strands of three strand rope in order to make a splice.
They are invaluable for doing three strand splices. Used to extract the core of double braid ropes like double braid nylons, polyesters and even arborist climbing ropes like 24 strand and 16 strand. They also work great for opening up hollow braid rope like Tenex to make a brummel splice.
Small Fid Dimensions:
- 6 3/4" overall length.
- 5/8" wide at the widest point and tapering down to the point.
- Best for rope 1/4 to 3/4 in diameter.
Large Fid Dimensions:
- 11" overall length.
- 1 1/4" wide at the widest point and tapering down to the point.
- Best for rope 1"and up in diameter.
